I remember old day when we use paper map and read books when travelling instead of using smart phone whole day. In nearest trip, I challenged myself not using smartphone and hi tech in my whole trip. I and my friends decided to climb to Mount Shasta in California few weeks ago. It’s standing at just over 14,000 feet or 4322 meters tall. We drove to Redding town right after work on Friday afternoon. We rested and had dinner at a small motel. All go to bed early to be in the best spirit for the early morning hike the next morning. We did prepared canned foods and wore comfortable clothes. Because we weren’t professional mountaineer, we look in the direction of the map and tell the group to start on the standard trail. We estimate it will take about 6 hours to climb to the top of the mountain. We will take a break every 3 hours and eat snacks to refresh everyone. The trip went quite well, but halfway through, Jane slipped, so we had to stop for half an hour to see the wound. Fortunately, there was no problem and she decided to continue the journey with the group. That feeling was great when climbing to the top of the mountain at 2pm. The weather was very nice, people took a lot of pictures. We camped at 4pm and camped overnight to see the beautiful scenery here. Because in winter, the weather is a bit cold at night, we make campfires and sit and tell each other stories about life. Leaving all the stress of urban life behind us, short trips like this really help us recharge and increase our endurance to continue to face the challenges of work and life. At noon the next day, it only took us about 4 hours to get back to town and hang out together around the neighboring towns. The next day, we had a picnic by the river. Everything is wonderful and lovely. I spent 4 days without using technology, only one time I still had to ask my friend to turn on the mapquest driving directions app because we got lost on the way back to the city. Everything is perfect. I can't stop looking forward to my next trip with you guys. Jane was so happy, she said she would be more prepared next time.
