"Son of the Mask" is a 2002 American live-action/CGI-animated comedy film directed by Kirk R. Thatcher and starring Brendan Fraser, Robin Williams, Michelle Trachtenberg, Alan Cumming, Peter Greene, Dean Cain and Wally Wingert. The film tells the story of Stanley Ipkiss (Fraser), a new guy who moves into town to start over after his father died on Christmas Eve. He develops extraordinary powers that were granted to him by an old man's magical mask; Stanley must keep them hidden until he can find out what their real purpose is. Before he learns his true mission, however, Stanley falls in love with Tina Carlyle (Trachtenberg). Stanley Ipkiss is a young man who moves to the town of Oasis, where his estranged father, Howard Ipkiss (Williams), lived and ran a store long ago. Howard died on Christmas Eve after making a wish before he passed away. Stanley's father and Howard's best friend, Gort (Cumming), try to talk him into spending more time with his father before his death, but instead Stanley burns down the store out of anger. As a result, he loses everything; he has no job, no money and no place to live as his girlfriend Rachel (Bridget Regan) dumps him as revenge for the store burning down. Then, a masked stalker named Gert enters the high school in which Stanley is a football player and a masked man looking for the next victim. The masked stalker is actually Stanley in disguise. After being interviewed by Principal Morales (Cain), Stanley is chosen by an old man named Mr. Harold (Gibb) to be given special powers in return for keeping his mask a secret from everyone. Harold shows him how to transform into electric-like energy with his mask on that he can use to fight criminals and gain inspiration from when they are fighting him. He also meets Harold's niece, Tina Carlyle (Trachtenberg) and falls in love with her, but he is reluctant to tell her about his powers and gets into trouble with the police for performing his 'magic'. He doesn't help when Tina is being harassed by a serial killer named Gert (Wingert), who has been stalking her. Mr. Harold tells Stanley that he has to learn how to be a hero and defeats Gert.Meanwhile, Tina finds out that Stanley is the masked man and tries to get him arrested after he saved her from getting killed by his arch-nemesis, Dr. Cocteau (Greene), working at "The World of Fantasy". Dr. Cocteau is really Mr. Harold's brother, who stole the powers of two magical masks that Mr. Harold made for himself and Stanley years ago to become a supervillain. As he fought off Dr. Cocteau, he ends up insulting Tina's friends by calling them "losers". The boys steal his mask after they see him kiss Tina, so he tricks them to give it back, but they trick him by making him drink water with lemon juice in it so the mask will burn his face when he puts it on.
