This announcement comes in response to a report from Sports Gamers Online that EA has made the decision to stop additional games with franchise-based modes in Madden 22. It partly cited IGN's own video interview of Madden 22 chief producer Seann Graddy. Graddy declared that this year's content roadmap is "slightly less ambitious than in years of the past" because the team has been focused on a handful of key areas rather than attempting to launch content on the scale of Superstar KO, a well-received arcade mode introduced during Madden 20.

"I believe that the roadmap is] perhaps a little more modest than in the past because we're really focusing on a handful of core aspects from Madden 22 and also getting started up on Madden 23 in a big way," Graddy said at the time. "So I'm going to stand by what we've always stated over in the past couple of years: we're a live service and we'll be continuing to update games, though we're definitely not going to be talking about a brand new mode."

The report received attention partly cheap madden coins because franchise mode is a source of contention for some Madden fans. The promised roadmap originally came in response to the #fixmaddenfranchise campaign , which was popular on Twitter around mid-2020. The campaign started after reports suggested that EA wasn't planning improvements to franchise mode at the time.
