These devices, when properly selected and installed, will keep the hose "checked" until all air has escaped. Proper selection includes ensuring that the cable is pressure rated above the system peak pressure and that the size range is suitable for the hose. Install the device correctly by pulling the device all the way out of the hose line and not around the hose fitting. If you install them on a hose fitting, the hose can slip out of its grip, rendering it useless.
Properly selected hose fittings and well-assembled branded air hoses complete a well-designed safety pneumatic system. Make sure the hose fittings are secured with safety clips and rated for the peak pressure of the system. Chicago-type fittings are rated to 150 PSI, independent of the higher pressure ratings specified on most air hoses. Higher pressure and sleeve retractable coupling options are available.
Periodically check the condition of the hose assembly and all other items in the system. Over time, ozone and site abuse can wear down hoses. Check that all field repairs have been done correctly and are in good condition. If the hose fitting is twisted inside the hose or any hose shank is exposed, repair or replace the assembly.
